I prefer summer, I hate the cold. The older I get, the more cold bothers me. I love the lake, the beach, rivers, creeks, etc. Hot days plus ice cold drinks or a snow cone. Vacation time. Awesomely light traffic. Long days of sunlight. Breaks in between kids sports activities. Summer movies. Summer concerts.

Yep, I love summer.

Winter pffft and Christmas bah humbug.

I LOVE THE WINTER THE COLDER THE BETTER

Now, I love the summer only bc I get my kiddos home with me and only have the schedule we set to follow. It's like a break for me to slow down a little.

The heat bites!

Last Winter, I heard over and over all the folks griping about how cold it was I for one enjoyed it. I love the red wine in the winter and the cold beer in the summer!

I wish the kids were in school in the summer and out for break during November and March. You know, when you can actually take them to the park during the day without getting heat stroke.

Summer here is horrible. I escape for a few weeks up north, but June-September is just awful.

I realize a lot people look forward to summer. But I have to admit I don't quite understand the attraction. Here's my problem with summer especially in SE Texas - heat, humidity, flies, bees, mosquitos, more ant mounds, large crowds at amusement sites, and of course the increased threat of hurricanes due to warmer water. Personally I prefer fall and winter.

Perhaps I'm in the minority on this. Anyone else feel like I do?

@rocket: Yes, I love winter & cold weather! The only thing good about summer is going swimming. My girls (dogs) don't even like the summer. My kid is grown and out of the house otherwise I might like summer better.

I am a winter person also..love cool crisp fall/winters days...football baby! ..all the decorations of Halloween,Thanksgiving, Christmas...cold cold nights when I can "nest" and make my family a warm meal. I love sleeping in rainstorms and feel comforted by rain. I like the idea of lazy summer days and vacations with the kids when they were younger but the heat zaps all of my energy now and all I want to do is stay inside with ac.

...and I grew up without any ac.

I used to spend a large chunk of my summer doing this:

Now, no more; though I will be going back to do a part of the Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier for several days. The break from the heat and humidity will be very much welcomed by my body.

I also need to add the smells and taste of fall/winter...mmmm. I can smell those pumkin breads bakn' now...

Only thing I smell right now is the 4 lbs of shrimp I just boiled !!! The entire house smells but that is ok they taste good & the smell will leave .

I love summer... that time of the year to get the shotgun out and shoot clay birds, repair the holes in my waders from the previous season, and get ready for early teal season... after that, duck season is just around the corner
