>> I'm afraid the days of $0.02/round .22 are gone...

I'm not a fan of Carter's, but I think that price is great... comes to about $0.06 per round, which isn't bad under the circumstances... going price of a brick (500) is $70+ online and you pay shipping on top, etc.

@traxla:

$70!!!! Jeez Louise!!!! That's just obscene!

@scamp:

Walmart has a limit but they are afraid to enforce it.

I guess you don't shoot a lot... It's been like that for over a year now... It actually has come down from $100+

@traxla:

Again, you can buy 500 for $40 now at CC, but you'll have to take along a couple of buddies because it's limit 2 per customer to stave away the ammo hoarders. Emoticon

@brightlights:

Don't get me started with those hoarders. The hoarders in our area are actually range employees from local ranges who buy up ammo in Walmart and academy and then resell them at a higher gouging price at their facility. I even caught them more than five times at the local walmart and even told the manager but they said they cannot do anything. I got into an argument with one of those range employees about three month ago and he stated it is business.

@cbp210:

Truth! During these "shortage" periods, every ammo retailer should have a limit/customer policy to weed out the *****s. Emoticon

Also, is "I guess you don't shoot a lot" the male equivalent to "You look fat in those jeans." from one female to another? Emoticon

@brightlights:

Kinda... but, hey, I has nice... I started with "I guess you..."

Nah, I don't shoot that much. Hell, I still have a couple bricks I must've bought at least a decade ago. I don't shoot the 22 much at all.

Gah... I remember me and my buddy going to Wal Mart and getting a couple of bricks and killing an afternoon plinking. Don't think they were more than $15-20 per brick. Of course this was early 90's...

We had a great little (membership) range. It was basically an honor system, do-it-yourself place. You had a lock on the gate, they had wooden targets. You had to bring everything else, there was no store, so if you ran out of ammo, that was it. As long as you picked up all your mess, you were good.

But they had a plinking range, so we'd bring things - sometimes stop by the dollar store and pick up cheap toys. Once had an ex girlfriend give me this giant stuffed animal gorilla. Brought it out there, and it held good shape, so we left it. Sat out there for a month or so. People were thanking me for bringing it... lol.

@CalTex:

Again last time I was there these ammo dealers buy them and try to sell them at a huge ridiculous price. This is one of the reasons I boycott guns shows in the area. My sources tell me these ammo dealers and range owners strike a deal with employees at Walmart, Academy, gander, Cabelas and Bass pro for information on when they will get the most demanded ammo.
