well.. thanks! this has been insightful...
Having some servicemen as my father figures, I thought that it was kinda normal... if you were in the military, but wasn't very common with civilians where I grew up...
I like them, when done in a way that can be covered when/if needed, but have never seriously thought about going thru and get one... for me doing 30-40 or covering a full limb is overdoing it, but I don't think/see anything wrong with those who have done it... I think a full sleeve looks cool, but don't see anyone getting away with that in an office environment... at least the places I've worked at...
I was in Austin last weekend for the MotoGP race and seems like I was the only person without one... felt kinda naked...
@traxla:
I think in an office environment, if they are covered up, nobody would know. I bet there are people with full sleeves that are able to keep it a secret at work.
Recently, I have seen a guy working at Target with 2 full sleeves, and I was so happy to see that he was able to show them. He was the quickest and friendliest checker I have experienced at Target. I always try to find him and go to his line. Seeing people able to show their art at work just makes me happy (as long as the art isn't obscene or gang-related).
My Dad was in the Marines, and has tattoos on his forearms, so growing up, tattoos weren't a taboo thing. My Mom and I actually went together to get our first tattoos about 15 years ago.
