@traxla: I do agree: however, when interviewed he admitted he may have touched her accidently! He was found red handed by another coach while sitting on the couch as the child was separated from her class. In this, I refuse to act as if this sounds innocent. What if it was your daughter? Now, you know your one of my favorite on here so I'm not disrespecting you I just wanted you to know my feelings regarding the facts already presented. I KNOW FOR A FACT THERE IS NO ACCIDENTAL TOUCHING WHEN IT COMES TO CHILDREN! THERE IS NO REASON TO ACCIDENTLY TOUCH A CHILD.

@lynnsgirl: I do understand what you are saying, and I don't find any of your comments disrespectful. I'm not saying he was innocent, but I am just choosing to leave it at that, at least for now, out of respect to family and friends, who may be reading this board.

I know this is old news ; but I wanted to comment anyway. The charges dismissed; we will never know what really happened. He should have never put himself in a one-on-one position with a teen girl. Suicide certainly leads one to assume an acknowledgment of guilt. But through the charges alone; news reports; closing of business; there was certainly a lot of pressure. He should have never taken this way out - it will add to the psychological trauma for the girl for life. Even if guilty - he should have manned up and accepted his punishment and built another life. As I have posted on here in the past - I have little mercy for people in positions of authority who molest those under their care - - But I certainly would have liked to have seen this one played out through the courts.according to the news (they certainly are prone to errors in reporting) - he admitted to possibly accidental touching during questioning. The thing about this - is that this comment released by police - may be spot on - or it may be way out of context - as much of karate is touching. Just a comment - not defending Mr. Gonzalez. Andy and Angie were at one time good friends - prayers go out to all of those affected who Andy let down.

I spoke at length with our day care providers, The Karate School, because I wanted to be updated on their policies. I was told they addressed these issues in a recent staff meeting, and I was told what written policies they have and they went over with me the simple, common sense ways they keep my children safe. (2:1 ratios, never alone in changing rooms, office doors and storage rooms kept open, etc.) They were not in the slightest bit offended by my asking, I told them I wanted to be familiar with their policies so that I could accurately review with my children what to expect. Kids are young, they don't necessarily know what is normal until it's too late.I really encourage everyone with children in any kind of child care to go to your providers and have this conversation and then, in an age appropriate way, relay the information back to your kids. Keep it simple, but keep informed. Providers need to know that parents know what should and shouldn't be happening and that we are holding them accountable - if it offends them to have this conversation or be questioned then they are in the wrong business! It protects everyone involved.
