Indians themselves wear these various school shirts that depict indians/warriors. The only mascot I've ever heard anyone having a problem with is the Chief Wahoo mascot of the Cleveland Indians. They all hate that one. The Washington Redskins is 50/50 on who you talk to. They realize these names and mascots are chosen as a way to honor their culture and history. The only folks who really give a damn are "white" indians. The high blooded community has far more important things to deal with and this just doesn't even show up on their radar.
Okay @traxla if you want to get ridiculous let's go with White Trash, Trailer Trash, Spicks, Beaners, Chinks, Dagos, Low Rent Districters, Ku Klux Klan, The Mob, Intramural Terrorists.

As someone who graduated from Lamar in 1991, I think it is beyond ridiculous!! Lamar has been the Redskins since 1936, why is it that now we have to change the name. In a way I feel that they have erased my high shcool years and memories. I was on the drill team all 4 years and very active in school, so I proudly wore my Redskins uniform and jacket!
yeah, it got to a point where I would wake up in the middle of the night because my finger was locked... so, I went to a hand doctor... she was recommending surgery, but that would have ruined duck season... so I asked her to do she shot and revisit after the season was over... and right now seems to be holding up OK.
As many of you know, I grew up in San Francisco, one of the most liberal areas of the country. My High School was the South San Francisco High School Warriors and you can see our mascot below. I guess even crazy liberal San Francisco didn't deem it offensive enough to change in the 101 years since the school was founded.
