@macdaddy:

It's amazing to me how others think it is okay to share your hard earned money with those who will not work for it themselves.

@blueyes:

I doubt that is what the pope has in mind.

@Undecided:

The pope does not speak for me and millions of others who see things differently.

@blueyes:

Exactly and what the pope is saying is straight from the Bible.

To say he is a socialist is very unbecoming from a man of the cloth. Wouldn't you say?

@blueyes:

I do not understand your question.

All I was trying to say was that (1) we cannot expect the media, our children, or anyone else to have respect for others if we, as CHRISTIANS, do not show respect for others. We can hate actions, or even hate the person, without spewing our hatred out into the world and watch it grow and (2) the pope is the spiritual leader for the majority of the world's Christians and he is asking Catholics to help the poor which is straight from the Bible. RL politicized that and called him a marxist.

I hate fraud as much as anyone who posts here.

Everything is not about President Obama.

So is kid-touching...a LOT of men of the cloth did that. So, they are not above reproach.

Oh, absolutely. The pope is human, just like the rest of us. The most previous pope participated in covering up the sex abuse.

Jesus commanded his followers to feed the poor.

Did Rush talk about the sex abuse crimes committed by priests? I don't know, but I doubt it.

I never said Rush was right...I just said he says a lot of things in jest, like a comedian does, but most people think it's ok when it comes from a filthy mouthed comedian.

I love how people that hate Rush go back and forth on what he is. Sometimes he is a dangerous political figure....and when it fits, he is nothing but an overpaid entertainer. Cracks me up.

Take him for what he is. A lot of what he says makes sense, but if you are a head in the sand lefty, you won't agree with anything he says. I could not care less. I might listen to him once a week, if I have time.

I'll tell you what though, I do get a lot of news from him that you will not hear on mainstream news. And yes, I do my research after I hear it to make sure I'm not being gullible.

@AtascaGuy:

I agree that Bashir should have been dumped (pun intended). Because he was representing a supposed news channel. There are no real journalists anymore. It's just dead and that is sad.

Let me start by saying that I'm not a fan Rush Limbaugh. I don't listen to him a lot but he is pretty intelligent overpaid entertainer. I agree with some of his views but he's hardly a role model or above reproach. Every political figure and analyst is going to spin things in their favor. He's not fair and balanced and doesn't really pretend to be, but he is representing himself and his views. Therefore I don't think he should fire himself.

I occassionally listen to him to get a different point of view and he brings up some interesting topics that many don't want to touch. I'm not impressed at how he always presents himself as the smartest man on the airwaves, but he's the blueprint for a successful political radio host. But he's done well for himself and he does his homework.

He's not always right though. A couple of weeks ago he was talking about the President trying to stack the district courts in his favor by adding new seats. After researching I realized that the President was trying to stack the district court by trying to fill vacant seats.

Personally I agree that Bashir should not have said what he did. In regards to Rush, I think he's basically an idiot also. But he panders to his core audience that expects him to say outrageous things. However he can go too far. For instance IN MY OPINION his over the top vitriol against President Obama goes way past the bounds of what should be acceptable. It's very similar rhetoric to the anti-Kennedy full page ad taken out in the Dallas Morning News on November 22, 1963.

I just find this all very interesting. If one of us "liberals" came on this board and said, "Yeah, Martin Bashir said Palin's mouth should be pooped in, but I still think he's a smart guy and I listen to what he says, because he knows the truth" there would be an outcry: How could you listen to someone like that, etc. etc. With Rush Limbaugh, it's passed off as mere humor or sarcasm when he finds himself saying things that quite frankly, I think he half believes. Sure, he may have said some things to be funny or some things to be sarcastic, but the man has been on the airwaves of America for years, spouting racist, anti-feminism, hateful crap...do any of you honestly believe everything the man has said has been tongue in cheek, or just to get a good laugh? Or perhaps he honestly believes the things he's saying?

If you believe that, then perhaps Martin Bashir was joking, too. Pooping in someone's mouth. Harty-har-har-har.

@nikkiole:

People say what they are thinking joking or not....
