Moving to Texas has been my first experience owning a home with an HOA. So far I've seen zero differences between these and the non-HOA neighborhoods I have lived in except that, you know, I now have HOA fees.

ACIA members need a Facebook page to vent on...keep all the drama internal like we do in Eagle Springs. Emoticon

Why keep it internal?

Do you start your meetings with a one hour executive session and then give very scant information of what was done?

It appears in some cases we get no information.

If this is a private business they started , be sure and tell them they can advertise on the ACIA common property down Pinehurst Trail Drive.

@tb505:
No reason to air dirty laundry outside the need to know (ACIA members).

@Greg Campbell:
I've never attended an Eagle springs HOA meeting. But friends of mine do and we haven't had too much drama. At least not yet. I participate on other ES committees and community turn out to those meetings is slim to nil, but you always have folks who don't show up but complain about decisions made. However, when folks have questions, it's very open to discuss freely. We are all just residents...and we should all have access to info we request.

Not sure what is up with ACIA. Reading the threads that have always been so negative for years, I'd never be interested in buying property on any of your subdivisions...maybe should keep the dirty laundry more internal.

@analogkid:

It is a unique position...because you have no municipal government, being unincorporated here in Atascocita. The HOA is the only thing that keeps a lot of things regulated...i find most people that complain about their annoying letters....needed that prod in the first place.

Humble Girl I hate facebook & I know lots of others that do also . They use to do it & no longer have an interest . The Golf Course people used this site all the time during that mess . They also had a facebook page & newspaper . When you want to alert others to what is going on this spreads the word like wild fire .They used this site to invite all other neighborhoods to join in & help them with their protest on Lake Houston PKWY . People read this site more often then reading the Observer . Not that the Observer should not be used because I think it should & also blast out a bunch of emails .Now what could a few people do to make these people not want to answer questions ? We are told I WILL NOT ANSWER THAT QUESTION ! Home owners are screamed at & told to SHUT UP ! SCREAMED AT & TOLD YOU ARE NOT MY FRIEND ! These folks were voted in by the people & have a responsibility to answer questions from the homeowners . Do you are anyone think that people go to meetings & (from the start) don't trust their Board members . Would not you think these folks would have to DO ( SOMETHING ) to cause people sitting there to not trust them ? If the Board is not creating some sort of doubt or mistrust why would any sane person want to create this situation ? I think given a choice people want to be happy not sad , nice not mean , smart not stupid , have more not less . These are common bonds we all share . So when we ask a question why not just answer or say I DON'T KNOW can I get back with you . Because a homeowner forgot to put a check in a box next to their name when they signed in they were told they could not speak . Do you are anyone else think that is ok for our Board to do that ? And I say our Board because there were 4 other members sitting there that could have spoken up & said no you need to let this person speak . But this Board was thrilled the person did not check the box because they already knew what the questions were . The questions had already been emailed to the Board 2 times and unanswered .We are frustrated & tired of all the behind closed door stuff we just want people to follow the rules & this for sure includes the Board . They should be setting good examples in my opinion . How do you take homeowners to court because they broke deed restrictions yet you are behind closed doors talking about God only knows what & keeping it quite from the homeowners . In this case those 16 lots they sold( may have) a big impact on some folks out here . I've been told some are very upset about this .

I'm just saying...when you go to sell your house, it might not be so great that you've had people ranting here for years about horrid your area is.

Otherwise, I don't care at all as I do not and will never own a home in ACIA territory.

There are other modes of communication than Facebook. That was an example, because it is what we use in Eagle Springs. And there is always drama there, but at least it's not posted (mostly) for outside prospective buyers to read for years and years.

Bottom line HumbleGirl

You hit the nail on the head, when people ask a question they get an answer.-This is how it should be.

You are neighbors- This is how it should be.

Your board is probably decent and reasonable, you are fortunate,imagine if it was not.

You do not have police at your meetings and are not informed that if you ask too many questions you will be removed by force if necessary.

If your board was like ours you would have the same issues.

Are we not allowed to use this public forum to air our grievances?
