Local Musicians Band Together to Bring Family-Friendly Live Music Festival to Kingwood

A group of local musicians has banded together to bring live music to Kingwood in a way like never before. The inaugural Kingwood City Limits (KCL) will be held on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Kingwood Town Center Park from noon to 10 p.m.

Kingwood City Limits is the brainchild of members of several bands who decided Kingwood needed its own music festival. Co-founded by Whit McConnell of 51 Proof and Chris Vaughn of Headbangerz Ball, a committee was formed that includes John “DJ” Wisser of DadBod Band and Christy Archer Janacek of Christina Renee & The RETROspective to add live music and marketing expertise.

“We talked about how there needed to be a way for the area to see and hear all of the great talent Kingwood has to offer,” said Whit McConnell, of the band 51 Proof, member of the Kingwood City Limits Committee.

Co-founder of KCL and Headbangerz Ball member Chris Vaughn shares, “People can see us at venues all around the area, but there has never been one place where families can all gather and see us at one time. There is a wealth of musical talent in Kingwood that people don’t know about, and we plan to change that.”

This family-friendly event at Town Center Park will also feature vendors and booths from local businesses around the Kingwood area. Tony Austin of Town Center Park said, “We are excited about hosting this community event where there will be food trucks, activities and, of course, great live music!”

Christy Archer Janacek of the Band Christina Renee & The RETROspective also shared, “This Kingwood City Limits event is just the beginning of our dreams for KCL. In addition to providing a free, family-friendly event for what we hope will be an annual event, we want this event and network to build a solid infrastructure for the live music industry in Kingwood for future generations. We want to create a central collaborative “space” where venues and artists and fans alike can access information about what is happening in our area, get together to network, jam and perform!”

We are so thankful to our sponsors for helping to cover the cost of putting on this event. “The bands are also working for free to help this event go and grow”, said John “DJ” Wisser of DadBod Band. “We just want to entertain Kingwood families and enjoy a nice Spring Day rocking the stage.”

Band lineup for the day (subject to change):

Christina Renée & The RETROspective | All Apologies | 51 Proof | Headbangerz Ball
George Wright Padgett | Rockhounds | DadoBod Band
