Kingwood Emergency Hospital Celebrates Dr. Kim Waaso – Physician of the Year Finalist
Salute to Healthcare
Dr. Kim Waaso, DO FACEP, Kingwood Emergency Hospital’s
Community Physician Liaison received recognition as Physician of the
Year finalist for her contributions to Lake Houston Area communities at
the Lake Houston Area
As
Community Liaison, Dr. Waaso is tasked with community outreach and
building relationships with local physicians, medical facilities,
schools and community organizations.
Dr. Waaso has a special interest in the education of young people
considering healthcare careers. She has organized informational career
events, physician shadowing opportunities as well as spearheading
scholarship opportunities for area students.
In her concurrent role for 12 years as the Medical Director for
Atascocita EMS, she has been an innovator. She developed the first
Medical Rehab Team (MURC) for the State of Texas, treating specifically,
first responders at disaster scenes. Her team's first deployment was a
tremendous asset during Hurricane Harvey. Dr. Waaso's other
responsibility is for one of the state's 14 amBUS (Ambulance Bus) mass
casualty units that are statically placed around Texas and deploy to
disasters in Texas and our neighboring states.
Dr. Waaso is regarded by colleagues and community leaders as a voice for both patient and healthcare giver advocacy.
