Kayali, owner of Houston Custom Carpets and Remodeling (HCCR).
Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Serving
customers for over 30 years, we are a family-owned and operated floor
covering retailer serving both the residential and commercial markets,
specializing in custom installations using premium materials. We also
offer all types of remodeling from ceiling to floor, including bathroom
remodels, kitchen remodels to full home remodels. Covering it all, we
can make your dreams come true on your larger projects.
When

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work?
Starting
back in the business in the 70s by accident, I had a friend who worked
at Color Tile Supermart, who encouraged me to be the assistant store
manager. I have loved working retail ever since.
I graduated from two business management schools: LSU at Baton Rouge and Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant, Oklahoma.
I’m
from Louisiana originally and eventually I made it to Houston. After
being in the industry for 15 years, I decided to start my own business
in Kingwood in 1988.
Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
I’m
proud that I’ve served the Kingwood community for over 30 years and the
majority of our customers are happy with the services that we have
provided. I’ve always offered quality products at a fair price.
We’re the only retailer on this side of town that offers middle and upper end products.
What is your favorite part of running this business?
I
love being in touch with my customers every day. I also like working
with our 5 sales people, helping our customers set the mood that they
want to convey once their guests arrive. Maybe they need fine carpeting,
hard surface flooring such as tile, natural stone, or hardwood, an area
rug or something else. We like finding what they want.
Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best? Someone who wants to stay in
their home, has good taste, wants quality and wants to remodel their home is
our ideal customer. Their main concentration is on the quality.
Our customers want to enjoy a
more beautiful, functional home—and get a better return on their investment
down the road. Thus, remodeling is the right step for them to take.
Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?Considered a top rated vendor, we have been screened and approved by HomeAdvisor.
Also,
we offer local coupons every month in the Kingwood newspaper and offer
12-months INTEREST FREE financing (with approved credit). Sometimes, we

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?The
