As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Achlee McGowen, owner of Collaborative Success: Solid Foundation 4 Thriving Scholars (SF4TS).

Tell us a bit about your businesses: What does your businesses offer, and how long have you been around?
Building a firm foundation with love, faith, moral excellence, balance and patience, Solid Foundation 4 Thriving Scholars (SF4TS) provides a quality learning experience to each of its pupils in the comfort and love of a home.
Our parent company, Collaborative Success, reaches out to communities all over the globe and seeks to inspire, equip, and motivate families to collaborate to achieve common goals. Collaboration is the key to the company's overall success.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the businesses get started?
Since I was 8 years old, I’ve had a passion for teaching, loving to learn and continuously helping others, beginning with my siblings. I loved role playing as a teacher and started tutoring early on. I obtained a bachelor's degree in psychology, another bachelor’s degree in special education in intellectual disabilities and then received my master's degree in education with a specialty in autism. Attending several colleges including the University of Northern Colorado and Fresno State University, I ultimately received my undergraduate diplomas from Minot State University and my master’s at Lamar University in Texas.
I went on to gain experience as a certified teacher, teaching in two different public school systems. For my first couple of years of teaching, I taught at Dayton High School. For my second teaching assignment, I was the girl’s basketball assistant varsity coach at Crosby High School in Texas, where I was recognized as Assistant Coach of the Year from the Texas Girl’s Coach Association 5a-6a. At this teaching assignment, I was a teacher as well as a 504 coordinator.
Continuing to serve our community by helping single moms and families that need support and are humbled to receive it, we began SF4TS in 2018 to meet the ongoing educational needs of families in our community.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your businesses. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
As a family owned and built business with a child care license, we are humbled and proud when we can meet a families' needs by nurturing and supporting their children with a strong education foundation.
We set our company apart with individualized educational support, involvement in community services/social outreach, before/after school care, drop off and pick up/transportation services, organic/non GMO home cooked meals and specialized care for those with special needs.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
I love the fact that my family is involved. Working alongside my husband is a beautiful thing, and my children being with us is a mother’s dream. It’s amazing to see the growth in our pupils. We're excited about providing scholars with the opportunity to be successful. We’ve also embraced our call to bless our scholars with the opportunity to grow in all aspects of their lives.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
For SF4TS, our ideal clients are families with preschool and school age children whose parents support a homeschooled environment and educational mindset as well as want their children taught individually in a loving home environment.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your businesses?
We offer recurring social events within our program so that kids can come out and have fun together; sometimes we meet at a park, other times we travel to various themed parks, etc. We pair these events with school supply and clothes drives to help out other community members.
Mention this article and receive free first-time enrollment or a special referral discount of $10 off for tutoring. We also award scholarships based on need.

How do you see your businesses growing and improving over the next couple of years?
We will continue to give God the glory for our program’s continued success. We will expand Collaborative Success by growing our tutoring and nanny services, expanding our team of experienced educators across the country.
