Nominations are now being accepted for the 2017 FamilyTime Women of Achievement awards in the following categories: the Arts, Business, Community Activist, Education, Entrepreneur, Homemaker, Human Services, Medical, Women’s Advocate, Visionary, Volunteer, and Special Recognition.

The 2017 FamilyTime Women of Achievement Honorees will be recognized at a gala dinner event to be held Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency downtown Houston.

“Nominate a family member, a neighbor, your co-worker…anyone who makes a difference in your life and others,” said FamilyTime Women of Achievement Gala Chairperson Susan Meinholz. “The FamilyTime Hearts of Gold Gala is a wonderful opportunity to recognize women who give their hearts and countless hours to make our community a better place to live, raise our children, work and play.”

To nominate a woman for this year’s Women of Achievement, please visit the events section of the FamilyTime website at www.familytimeccc.org/events.html to download the nomination form or e-mail [email protected] Nominations must be received no later than Oct. 17. Previous winners are not eligible for an award. A list of previous winners is available on the website.

“The FamilyTime Women of Achievement honorees are role models to the many women FamilyTime serves. By contributing to the gala, individuals and businesses are supporting the FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center and helping these women find the strength to make a new life for themselves and their children.” said Meinholz.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, FamilyTime will also once again host The Purple Ribbon Luncheon at the Kingwood Country Club on October 13. All former Women of Achievement will be recognized.  A candlelight vigil and Open House will be held on Wednesday, October 18. Details on both events may be found on the website www.familytimeccc.org.

Now in its 40th year, FamilyTime provides free crisis intervention, counseling, support groups, a 24-hour crisis helpline, case management and legal advocacy services to victims of abuse, including domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.  “The Door,” FamilyTime’s shelter for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence, is the only such shelter in north Harris and south Montgomery counties. Since opening in July 1996, it has provided a safe haven and crisis services to more than 5,000 women and children.
