As part of our ongoing "Getting to Know Your Local Businesses" series, this week we sat down with Alex Melchor, owner of Jared's Plumbing.

Tell us a bit about your business: What does your business offer, and how long have you been around?
Jared’s Plumbing is a full-service plumbing company; we do all plumbing from clearing drains to repair/replace sewer lines. We’ve been in business for 12 years, so we have got the experience that our customers need.

How did you decide to get involved in this line of work? How did the business get started?
I’ve always liked repairing things and just knew plumbing would be a fulfilling line of work. I got started back in 2005, after many years of experience in plumbing; I knew at that point I could make a successful plumbing company of my own.

Tell us a couple things you are proud of about your business. What are you known for? What separates you from the competition?
Once I obtained my master plumber’s license I knew it was time to start with Jared’s Plumbing. We are known for quality work and good customer service. The service that we provide is done in a timely manner of completion of jobs and that is what separates us from our competitors.

What is your favorite part of running this business?
Being able to see in my customer’s eyes complete satisfaction of a job well done that gives me contentment.

Who is your ideal customer/client? Who do you serve best?
My ideal customer I would have to say is one who explains their problem and then leave it up to us, the experts to trust, that we will get the job done right.

Can you tell us something about yourself as the business owner? What is your background?
My name is Alex Melchor and I have lived here in the Houston area all my life. I love my line of work and try to always leave with satisfaction, that I’ve done a professional job each time.

Are there any special promotions, annual sales, or special events that you'd like to mention?
We always offer first time customer discount. We offer senior discounts as well as putting our customer on our mailing list to personally mail them out coupons every year.

Is there any other information you'd like your potential customers/clients to know about your business?
We want to let our potential customers know in advance that in three more years we will be celebrating 15 years in business and we are inviting you to come by. See our physical location and even though we are a small business we have a professional style and even maybe win a prize. We will keep you informed when that time gets close.

How do you see your business growing and improving over the next couple of years?

In the next couple of years the business will be growing by adding more license plumbers to our staff.
