@theplaceboutique Because heterosexuality is and has been the normal/default, sometimes even the only accepted, sexuality. These children who are out and proudly homosexual have faced hate and oppression from closed minded ADULTS such as the ones on this thread.
@CE3673 If we are being blunt here "
I want to die" does not transfer to " I want to kill my self " considering there are thousands of ways to die . So yes I don't find it extremely alarming

We post " I want to die " " I want to kill my self " etc not literally . It's all jokes for the most part
@Ataslp
I think they said the student"wanna die" was called in and checked for well being, which was appropriate. So why are you beating someone up? I see adults slamming young people all the time on forums and yet these young people are the very same who step up and volunteer for the military risking life and limb for you and I.Just don't get it.
@OBalls Beating them up bc there is a parent with concerns over the statement? It just shows she has compassion and concerns. Seeing what the student body at an elementary school just went through before spring break or families burying a child with the sentiment if I had just known.
Guess I'm the only one that though the quotes were funny. Some of you need to lighten up. The entire point of having a senior quote is freedom of speech. As for, I want to die, I'm pretty sure I said that at one time or another when I was 17/18. That quote was actually taken out of context. The kid likes to party and have fun; lives life to the fullest. The quote was a joke with friends. They ask why he's doing something, he says I want to die. Period. No one is promoting suicide or death.
Were some quotes with drug or sex references, yes. Were they foul, not really. Nothing I haven't seen on a t-shirt at Target, JC Penney, Hot Topic, etc.
If you happen to be one of the few that's offended by a rainbow flag, I have no words for you other than those kids deserve recognition for who they are just as much as your straight kid.
With all the death and destruction going on in the world, if this is all you have to whine and complain about, I'd say you probably need to zip it and show your child how adults really behave. #firstworldproblems

What you children fail to understand is respect and class. Theres nothing you kids "know" or have seen or done that we dont know about.. trust me..parents know what goes on in high achool and on the internet...the WHOLE point is. The school yearbook is NOT the place for explicit comnents or content..Notice I didnt say any specific group should not be included . Im pretty sure no one said a gay student should not be allowed in the yearbook..have their picture in as a couple etc...the complaints are lewd and inappropriate content, by all kinds of students. You guys say you dont want your book ruined with a sharpie, but cant understand anyones concern about the quotes..
And really. Just because kids "see" things dont mean we just say oh well..they're gonna do it anyway...i mean with that logic we shoukd just serve beer in the cafeteria .

@lyynsgirl T@SteelerNation And there it is folks. Lyynsgirl is a homophob and **** and picked a public forum to express her concerns when really she should focus on her own kids and what she's teaching in her home. If you really believe all gays and lesbians are deviants, please by all means post your real name and address so all the deviants can have a face to face chat!!! Did it ever occur to you why any of the items in the yearbook are actually there? Well genius if you look at the bottom of the page it's a timeline of the whole year. Football season, drama clubs, service projects, even the election however you don't seem upset about that. The Eagle Pride page was during Gay Pride week. National gay pride week. Open your eyes and ears to what's important to our teens instead of starting an uproar which bashes teenagers and public educators who are by far having a much greater positive impact on this planet than you are with your ugly hateful unchristian words. Judge lest not you be judged!!!!!
@Lace Wait does momma still pay the bills? Or are these kids living in the real world.... you know paying bills and stuff like that?
