UPDATE: Imelda has been downgraded to tropical depression.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tropical Storm Imelda has formed in the Gulf of Mexico directly off the Texas coast and is now making her way over us. Imelda is the ninth named storm of the 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue to move through the region through Thursday. Rainfall associated from the storm moving in from the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring 6-10" of rain to the area. High rainfall rates of 2-3" per hour are possible and may lead to street and small stream flooding.

Please monitor the weather and road conditions closely. If travel is unavoidable, reduce your speed to avoid hydroplaning. If a Flash Flood Warning is issued for your area, DO NOT TRAVEL.

Always remember to Turn Around, Don't Drown! DO NOT DRIVE through high water and DO NOT DRIVE AROUND BARRICADES. Just two feet of water can sweep your vehicle away.

People should bring their pets inside and delay travel or outdoor activities during periods of heavy rainfall.
