Tonight's Dinner..

NY strips, asparagus and fresh shucked corn. It sure was good... New York strips were on sale at HEB, along with the corn.. and the asparagus... Great dinner, steaks turned out to be one of the best that I have ever cooked... One of the pics turned out blurry, I was trying to show the color of the steak...

My wife and I cook together a lot.. I cooked the steak, and prepped the mushrooms and onions (not pictured). She cooked the asparagus, and corn.. Its fun to cook together, and some of our meals (like this one) are better than we get at 95% of restaurants...

That is so cool, my husband and I both cook, but rarely together. We take turns. Tonight was his turn, the frozen pizza was great.. I love you baby.

@tommie Sorry to ask a silly question but I'm the offspring of vegetarians and I only know "off" and "high" on the bbq. Did you cook this on a grill or a stove? How?? I see the meat at HEB and sometimes find the reduced price grass fed sliced pieces, but I have no idea what to do with it unless it's ground up.

@KPalm www.chefsteps.com/ac tivities/cook-sous-v ide-tonight-stovetop -method this is basically how I do it at home. I keep the water between 130-140 for about an hour depending on how thick the steaks are, and i season the steaks before i place them in the bags. after cooking for one hour i put them on the grill to sear them for 1.5 minutes per side. I check the temp of the steak after the hour cook, and after the sear.

One way to cook steak that is easy

1. Heat oven to 500
2.Get a cast iron skillet really hot, put the steak in 2 minutes on each side, no oil - salt and peppereach side.
3. Turn oven down to 450, add butter to steak, put in oven for 4 minutes
4. Take out of oven, take out of pan and place on cutting board with foil to rest about 5 minutes.

On a 1 inch flat iron steak this yields a seared outside, a ring of brown, and a warm pink center about 99% of the time. Perfection.
