The Harris County Sheriff's Office and PCT 4 Constable Deputies worked together for hours Wednesday morning to end a potentially dangerous standoff in Atascocita.
According to reports from PCT 4 and HCSO, on June 6, 2018, deputies with Constable Mark Herman's office were dispatched to the 19400 block of Kacey Lane Ct. in Atascocita in reference to a disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they were told by witnesses that a male suspect, 20-year-old Montez Lee, had broken into the home and barricaded himself inside of the residence, upstairs, with a small child...His 6-year-old sister. Investigators were told the suspect was retaliating against the homeowner for calling the police earlier in the evening and threatened to burn the house down.
Around 2:30 AM, the Harris County Sheriff's Office "SWAT" team (High Risk Operations Unit) was called in to assist with the situation. They were unsuccessful in negotiating with the suspect and it was decided that entry would probably have to be made. At around 4:50 AM, right when authorities were going to cut power to the home, one of the deputies noticed through a window that the little girl was downstairs in the kitchen. They were able to sneak her out of the home unharmed and made entry with a K9 unit to apprehend the suspect.
"Lee was located in a bathroom closet area of the home," said HCSO Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland. "The K9 was deployed and he was taken into custody with minor injuries from a dog bite."
The child was not injured and was released to a family member.
"This was an all around great team effort by PCT 4 Constable Deputies and our HRO unit," added Gilliland.
"Montez Lee was arrested, booked into the Harris County Jail and charged with Retaliation and Terroristic Threats. His bond and court information has not been set at this time." ~Constable Mark Herman
Court records indicate that Lee is a resident of Detroit, MI.
