I guess if you are going to carry a handgun and your Xanax, have $20 bucks on your bail money!

Judges are so messed up. Unlawful carry!! She has a gun, is not going hunting, so she is planning to shoot someone! That should be $10,000 bond minimum.

so now you can have drugs and a gun in your car and you only have to pay a $20 of your $200 bond. Oh, that's really going to deter people.

@1ontheroadagain : Playing devil's advocate here, I carry a handgun and am never going hunting. I'm not planning on shooting anyone. Besides, it's a misdemeanor.

I want stiffer penalties for illegal carry, carrying stolen weapons etc. And I'm a gun owning conservative. Our culture in general sucks when it comes to gun safety these days.

@1ontheroadagain : not on a misdemeanor. It's the law, not the judges.

"In Texas, Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon (UCW) is the illegal possession of a dangerous weapon, such as a handgun or club. It's usually a Class A misdemeanor"

$4000 is the MAXIMUM fine allowed.
Let alone a $10,000 bond.

@ParksideRes :
$4,000 is the maximum fine if convicted.
There isn't a fixed amount of bail for unlawful carrying of a weapon in Texas because judges and magistrates have the discretion to set bail amounts based on specific case details.

@1ontheroadagain : And that's the point, they're never going to set bail anywhere near the maximum penalty for a fine. People are outraged at the judge, it's the law that they need to be outraged at. Go and tell the legislature to change things.

The scariest part for me is the number of dangerous people running the streets. Doesn't seem to matter where you live or how much money you have. The nut cases are out there ready to hurt you.

Glad it was Xanax. Seems a bit anti-violent. Bump her dosage please.

@redneckroy :
Sometimes when you abuse a pill it has the opposite effect.
