@AtascocitaDotCom : I wonder what the expense of the process of arresting and booking him was....
If they don't care to have these guys incarcerated - then just serve them with a citation like a traffic ticket... Gotta be a way to do this that isn't a waste of time and money.

$ 100.00 doesn't come anywhere near the costto serve the warrant. Plus all the other cost.

@Maxsmom : no. He'll pay the full $100. The 10% rule is not actually common and requires an extra hearing. The 10% usually goes to the bondsman and they determine if it's worth it or not and make the family put up something of value. There's a lot more to it than what you think.

Also, $100 is the state norm. Simple theft, first time is usually a recognizance bond so $100 is an upgrade. It's a misdemeanor.

I may get my hand slapped for this but, I feel if you are convicted of a crime along with your jail time you should have to pay back the city or the county (tax payers) for the amount of time spent on your case. Especially if you run or hide. If not paid in full by the time you are released you have to put up a bond for the rest if not paid by a specified date.

@ParksideRes : Maybe but what is the difference when you forget to get your tags on your car and get a ticket. When you go to get your tags after your ticket you have to pay an extra fee to the county. I know most people just lie about it but they have ways to add fees.

@KRAM : those are civil offenses. Completely separate.
