Also, is it 18 or 21 the age allowed to possess a firearm? Thought it was 21, and this kid doesn't turn 21 until NOV.

To purchase a pistol you have to 21. To purchase a rifle/shotgun 18.

One can get a LTC under the age of 21 but has to be in the military or honorably discharged. But he/she cannot buy a pistol.
