Shattered Dreams @ AHS Today is the day for Shattered Dreams at AHS. It will be a very realistic reenactment of a car wreck with lots of first responders. Truly an emotional day there.

AnnieKDC : "Shattered Dreams" at Atascocita High School is a two-day program designed to educate students about the consequences of underage drinking and impaired or distracted driving. It involves a dramatized alcohol-related crash simulation with local emergency services, as well as presentations, activities, and an overnight stay. The program aims to raise awareness about the real-life impact of such actions.
** Wow, I wasn't aware of this program. If it saves just one life... it's worth it. I just wish we would have had something like that when I was growing up.
brightlights : Wow, that's so powerful. It's a very good reminder that there are consequences to EVERY choice we make. I think they should do something like this in every HS. Thankfully this incident didn't really happen, but it still made me VERY emotional about the true, what ifs of life. I'm thankful some of my less than perfect choices didn't harm me when I was a teen. 🙏 Thank you for sharing this.

AnnieKDC : Thanks for the reminder. Do they still exclude freshmen from watching? I used to get so emotional when mine were involved in it.

LifesABeach : Many high schools participate. When mine were there, IIRC, the program was more concentrated toward Texas schools, but I don't know if it has expanded to other states. It's a worthwhile project, imo! brightlights : I believe he was allowed to go to school in Colorado. His probation had some kind of stipulation about him returning to spend time in jail once a month, or during the Summer months. I cannot remember exactly, but I do remember thinking that it would be costly having to come back to Texas so often for his jail time. « Back to Chat
