Random Acts of Kindness

MooMaw : You have to tell us the ADC member and their good deed. I think this is awesome. My act of kindness was from a neighbor. I was very sick and they left homemade soup on the porch. It was the sweetest thing and it warmed my heart.

Are they still active?

Well, I was at Kroger sometime back and I was just picking up a few needed things for home including a 12 pack at the time. I went to cash out only to realize I had one card on me and it had NO $.I was so embarrassed literally wanted to cry. I told the cashier as people were behind me that I had no other form of currency on me so let me go put things back. The cashier could see the fear and embarassement in my eye. She told me not to worry and took the things and set behind counter.I was still limping at the time and moving very slowly. The elderly lady behind me must have been paying attention. I walked out of the store empty handed and my tail tucked b/w my legs.Next thing I know is I hear the cashier lady yelling at me in the parking lot mam, mam I turned around and she asked me to come back. I SURE didn't want to but I thought maybe there was an error with my card.NO! It was the elderly lady about to pay for all my things she was actually in the process of doing so. It was at that time, I explained to her how much I appreciated her heart and how much I could NOT allow her to do this. I continued to explain if I was starving I would accept and I would never accept her to pay for my beer.I will always remember this lady!Next, comes to mind. I was in a local store and I was walking out and an African American lady approached me and said I sense you need this and handed me a $20.00 guess what? I really did need it but I would NEVER ask anybody for anything. With that said, I paid it forward on a better day! Yes, I did pay it forward to another ethincity I felt that was important bc she really set the precedence that day!

Sorry if this is a bit long. I was dining alone at what is formerly known as Asian city in Humble. It was during the pandemic. I had the whole Hibachi table to myself. However, a young woman approached and asked if she could seat herself and her child at the table while his food was cooked. I welcomed the company. Cooking was done and she went back to her booth as she and her companion ordered off the main menu. During our chat, I mentioned that it was my birthday. Well, as always..needed that to go box and the check. They brought the box but no check. When I asked...they said the meal had been paid for! Of course I knew who it was. I approached the table and with tears in my eyes thanked them for their kindess. I was alone for lunch that cold rainy day as my kids were working. It wasn't cold anymore when I left...the sun came out.

MooMaw : I too have received some random acts of kindness from a few members here on ADC. In the form of box game winnings (you know who your are) and gift cards from the weekly A.com posting contest.

Once at a Starbucks in Atascocita, I was pulling into the drive-thru line when a woman cut in front of me. I let it slide. When I finally reached the window to pay for my latte, the barista told me the woman ahead had already covered it - and handed me a napkin with her phone number on it. I never called… I was married at the time.

Many years ago when I was young, I needed 2 back surgeries within 6 weeks and lost a premature baby, all in one year. That year living and medical expenses were unreal even though we had insurance. I was physically unable to work and ran out of my minimal disability insurance. It was impossible for our family of five to live on one remaining salary and we were completely out of funds. A local Church, one we didn't even attend, insisted on having a fundraising dinner for us. We were then able to cover our remaining medical bills and buy food until I could get back to work. I never thought with both of us having jobs, medical insurance and disability insurance; that we would ever be in such a financial bind. I was wrong and we are beyond thankful for everyone that helped us out.
