Could be a double edged sword , usually there is some compensation for signing the non compete, or at least there should be before you prohibit yourself from entering the market

By law in Texas you had to compensate to get someone to sign, but it is generally "if you want the job"But things changeFor instance I signed a noncompete 10 years ago, but now I may be at odds with management above me.
