CONSTABLE’S BACK-TO-SCHOOL AND TAX-FREE WEEKEND SAFETY TIPS
It’s that time of year again — the 2025-2026 school year is right around the corner! With Texas’ Tax-Free Weekend happening August 8th, 9th, and 10th, families will be out in full force preparing for the school year.
This weekend is not only a great opportunity to save, but also a busy time for our local businesses — and unfortunately, it can also attract criminal activity. Shoppers may be distracted with long lists, children, and heavy foot and vehicle traffic, making them more vulnerable.
Constable Mark Herman’s Office encourages everyone to stay alert and follow these safety tips while shopping:
Plan Ahead – Know what stores you’re visiting and what you need.
Stay Vigilant – Lock your car, take your keys, and hide valuables out of sight.
Be Strategic – Park in well-lit areas and shop with a friend or family member.
Watch the Kids – Keep a close eye on children, especially in crowded parking lots.
Stay Ready – Have your keys in hand when approaching your vehicle and limit the number of items in your arms.
Let’s make this tax-free weekend safe and successful for everyone!
