Harris County Flood Map Sparks Public Confusion Over Projects

Loading Image...

ABC13 recently ran a report on a new Harris County flood map people say was misleading.

Despite certain projects being marked as "complete" on the new flood map, no work has been done. Bob Rehak, who runs Reduce Flooding Now, also questions the accuracy of the map, stating it misleads the public about project status. Rehak identified five projects listed as "complete" or "in progress" that have no visible construction.

After ABC13’s report, the agency removed the “complete” projects from the map to reduce confusion. The issue arises as the commissioners' court pushes for more transparency in flood control projects.

You wanna help flooding quit issuing building permits and covering everything up with concrete. I grew up in the Houston Harris County area in the sixties and seventies and we never had flooding they way we do today. You get a inch or two of rain and you can't get out of your house, but they keep building in known flood areas. It is only going to get worse than it already is.
