Deputies locate lost kayaker on San Jacinto River 6/27/22
Deputies with Constable Mark Herman's Office responded to Jesse Jones Park located at 20634 Kenswick Drive in reference to a missing kayaker on 6/27/22.
The reportee advised he kayaked with a friend at Mercer Park and got separated on the creek. He made it to Jesse Jones Park at the intended exit point and had not seen his friend for over 2 hours.
With the assistance of DPS air support, the lost kayaker was located approximately 1 mile past IH59 in the San Jacinto River. He was in good condition but was unfamiliar with the creek system and had gotten lost.
When kayaking, make sure you have a plan, stay with others in your party, and have plenty of water to drink!
And I've now changed my mind about buying a kayak. Holy cow! I never thought about that. I have A HORRIBLE sense of direction. If anyone would get lost, it would be me. I can get lost going from my backyard to my front yard. Ha ha.
