Dr. Jamie Bryson, Humble ISD’s Director of State and Federal Programs and Instructional Materials Coordinator, has recently earned several notable statewide honors.

Bryson was named to the Texas Compensatory Education Allotment Advisory Committee. This committee advises the Texas Education Agency (TEA) on how to distribute education funds statewide based on factors such as economics and population.

She received the honor from Mike Morath, the TEA Commissioner of Education.

“It is truly an honor to serve at the state level while supporting education initiatives that benefit students in Humble ISD as well as across the state,” Bryson said. “Serving on the State Advisory Board gives me input into making recommendations and establishing regulations that impact school systems across Texas.”

The committee consists of 17 members from school districts, universities, and entities that support education initiatives from around the state of Texas. Each member is selected through a statewide application process. Applications are reviewed by TEA staff and the Texas Commissioner of Education.

Additionally, Bryson was also selected by her statewide peers to represent Texas on the National Association of Federal Education Program Administrators (NAFEPA) Board of Directors.

“Serving on the NAFEPA Board allows me to provide input into policies, and to receive timely information regarding federal education programs,” Bryson said. “My role is to share timely information and guidance with school district leaders statewide concerning changes in federal education programs and implement them in Humble ISD.”

Bryson’s selection to serve on the NAFEPA Board was based on a two-step process. First, she was selected by a member of the Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET), where she has been a member since 1996 and served as its president.

Following her selection as a nominee, approximately 800 Texas school district leaders who make up ACET picked Bryson from a field of candidates. She will serve a term of three years on the NAFEPA Board after which she will be eligible to run for another term.

Bryson holds over 30 years of experience in public education serving in a range of roles from teaching to skills specialist to managing state and federal education programs.

She has earned a list of honors, including the Sam Houston State University Distinguished Administrator of the Year Award, as well as the NAFEPA State Leadership Award. Her dedication to improving educational programs includes serving on executive boards of state and national organizations and providing training at state and national conferences.
