The Atascocita Volunteer Fire Department is hosting an ECSI Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Certification Course next month.
This course is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts of all experience levels, and is particularly well suited for those planning to travel/camp/hike where EMS response may be delayed by up to eight hours. You'll learn patient assessment skills, first aid treatments for injuries and illnesses common to outdoor activities, and you'll learn what to consider when evaluating evacuation options.
This is a two-day course combining classroom lecture and skills practice. You must attend both days to receive certification. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a BSA approved Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) completion card which is valid for two years from the date of issuance.
