Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run incident that started out as an argument between two people in a car over the weekend in Humble.
Early in morning of October 28, at around 1:00 AM, a call came into 9-1-1 concerning a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle on Atascocita Rd.
Humble Police were first to arrive at the chaotic scene in the 1200 block of Atascocita Rd (near the intersection of Wilson Rd), followed by fire/rescue personnel and HCSO deputies.
A male, visibly upset, was seen pacing around a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the eastbound side of the roadway. Next to the passenger side of the car was the body of a female. She was lying on her back and there were no signs of movement. Officers sat the man in the back of a patrol vehicle to try and calm him down while rescue workers tended to the female.
First responders quickly assessed the victim's injuries and began prepping her for transport. After several minutes, she was loaded into an ambulance and hurried to Ben Taub Hospital. Her condition was reported as "critical" at that time.
After the victim was taken away, deputies began to interview the male. According to their reports, they believe he was driving eastbound, in the left lane, on Atascocita Rd. At some point, and argument began between him and the female. He had slowed the vehicle down because she wanted to get out...That's when the female exited the vehicle while it was still in motion.
At that same time, a small suv or pickup truck was trying to go around them and ran over the female. The suspect vehicle never stopped and fled the scene.
Investigators believe both the male and female were intoxicated.
