One Dead After Shooting In Atascocita A young woman was shot and killed by a homeowner in the Atascocita North subdivision early this morning. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO), a burglary/shots fired call came in to the PCT 4 Constable's Office through 9-1-1 at around 5:15 AM on Thursday (7/20/17) morning. The caller stated he had shot a burglar in his home. Once deputies arrived at the residence near the corner of River Brook Dr & Fawn Trail Ln in Atascocita, they found the body of a young woman inside. EMS was called to the scene, but it was too late and she was declared deceased. According to KPRC2, the victim was identified on-scene by the family as 14-year-old Layla Ramos, and that she knew the homeowner, but none of that was confirmed by HCSO. The homeowner is still being questioned and so are several neighbors. The investigation is still ongoing and we'll update this post as soon as HCSO has anything new on the incident.
