For Kingwood and the Lake Houston area, the shift significantly reduced the threat of heavy rainfall and flooding. Harris County Meteorologist Jeff Lindner said the heaviest rain was trending toward Polk and Trinity counties, while areas east of I-45 could still receive an additional 1 to 3 inches in scattered bands.Rehak notes that runoff from portions of the storm could still eventually reach Lake Houston because the lake sits downstream of a roughly 2,500-square-mile watershed spanning seven counties.
