Live Crawfish

HEB seems to have the cheapest price for crawfish. I'm assuming they're getting it from somebody around the Houston area.

Is it worth the cost and drive to go down the road and get it somewhere else? We're not doing a huge boil or anything, maybe 25 pounds.

They do have a fair price, but it is hit or miss on the quality. And just so you understand, the crawfish they cook on the porch are top quality.....but, you can't buy those live. You get a 30-35# sack from the pile. I've had great and the worst from there.

But, if you aren't particular, go for it. Otherwise go to Zydeclaws where you are buying from the same stock they cook. Make a reservation.

@RedV : I highly recommend Dup's Cajun Warehouse over any other place. Good people. Good crawfish.

@Clydepuckett : Last time I checked on the price (a couple of weeks ago) they were only 25 cents more per pound than HEB and dropping. Plus, they're picked up fresh from Louisiana every Friday for that weekend.
