His cell nates will be getting off too, fresh fish on the line
I think we all need to take a step back. Emotions are very high. We all feel a certain way. That night was awful for everyone in the area. Mistakes were made and decisions that were made that shouldn't have been made. People with driving aged kids not related to the accident were affected. This should be a lesson for all. I think about putting myself on both sides and it's hard to say how I feel. What I do know is kids aren't aware of the dangers of drinking and driving to the severity of this level. Meaning they've gotten away with it many times before or their friends or family have done it and nothing happened. We should, while terrible and tragic, use this as a learning tool. I know when a friend from high school was killed by a drunk driver, it was painful to see the pain his family was going through. Hearing the sobs from everyone that knew him. That night forever changed my thinking, I made sure anytime I went out, I had a DD. It could have easily been me or one of my friends. That's what we need to be stressing to our kids, it could easily be you in either seat.
Again, never anyone's fault. Just everyone a victim. So the person who may have sole alcohol to a knot is the one who made them drink and drive and do what they did. Come on.
What we have here is a kid who is trying to make things better for a friend, albeit the wrong way. It's a simplistic and narcissistic view of the situation from a kid. That's it....and that's what 99% of teenagers are, simple-minded narcissists. Adults can ***** and moan about how WE were NEVER self-centered, simple-minded little narcissists, but I guarantee that our parents have a much different story to tell. Did this friend screw up by posting this diatribe on social media, IMO yes. Does the friend need a reality check, for SURE!....taking personal responsibility for our actions is essential to becoming a socially acceptable member of the human race. But remember, it's only the friend's point of view, not this Jagger kid's thoughts or words. And no, I don't know anybody involved in this tragic situation.
Here's the deal. This was a tragedy all around, and so many lives have been affected. What's done can not be undone. Placing blame to him, or him, or her, or her, or them, or them, is completely futile. We, personally, have been blessed with not having to experience this kind of pain with ours so far. We all raise them the best we know how, right? Teenagers will be teenagers. But if there's one thing I have learned through our years and years of parenting, it's to Never Say Never. So for all of you sitting on your high horses, arm-chair judging? You never know. Just remember that. I do. Even the best of kids from the best of families fall sometimes. You're not perfect, and neither are your kids. Sorry, but it's the truth. Ouch, right? Btw, we know these families. Mine lost some friends. Don't for a second think this could never happen to you. Just pray it doesn't. Glass houses and all that, y'all. Let these families deal with the aftermath, and thank God above that you don't have to. Lots of room for prayer here, including me, who needs to pray for whom most consider the "bad guy." #humbled
