@ginx : This is the first I've heard of it. It's here for a couple of months, Aug-Oct.

I had the opportunity to visit the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam in 2018. It was such an over sensory experience for me that I don't know if I could ever visit again. He was such a prolific artist and his work had quite a bit of range: the famous self-portraits, town scenes, portraits, blossoms, etc.

A lot has been said about how his mental state is reflected in his art while I think his art is just a reflection of how he saw the world. He wasn't a crazy guy painting ****... he was a master giving us a glimpse of how what was on his mind.

Definitively my favorite artist. My nice got me a pair of Van Gogh Vans shoes; I've never worn them; wrong size.

@sandman : I'm a bit concerned about sensory overload. However, it looks like it would be a great experience with magic shrooms. Hopefully we'll all be fine. I imagine it will be a lot like Zoo Lights or something similar.

Van Gogh was not crazy, he was manic, however. He did suffer from Bipolar Disorder, which I had heard before. Not long ago I watched a move with Katie Homes, 'Touched with Fire'.
www.imdb.com/title/t t2848324/?ref_=nm_fl mg_act_15

It's a movie about BPD. During the credits they go through a list of famous people who suffered/lived with this disorder. Van Gogh is listed. I think it will be exciting to view his work having a better understanding of what BPD is and how it works. I'm actually looking forward to that part of his exhibit. Literally being immersed in his collection. It is my understanding his most famous work, Starry Night, was created while he was manic. Katie Holmes' movie was good, IMO, although it might be a trigger for others.

That's too bad about your VVG shoes. Emoticon

Van Gogh

@eighteen : What makes a Van Gogh? Degas of course!

Monet, Manet, Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, Rodin are my favorite impressionists. I know that Vincent "Oreille Droite" Van Gogh is technically post Impressionist.

@eighteen :

So, I have no idea what this "experience" would be like, but if I was you I wouldn't be concerned that I had that kind of experience.

At the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam there was no such thing like they are doing in Houston, just hundreds of his paintings hanging from walls... that and the fact that the place was uber-crowded was too much for me. I felt as if the people on the paintings wanted to say something to me, or that I was entering the town scenes or could smell the flowers. The art was coming alive for me "as is" and that is what I'm referring to.

In general, I don't do well on exhibits that are "enhanced" by audio-visual effects. I rather take on things as they can be experienced in real life and don't need the extra stuff to enjoy something. But that is me.

@sandman : Lol. I will be totally sober walking through the Van Gogh Exhibit. However, for those that partake in such things, I can easily see how the experience would be enhanced on another level.

Flex tickets are probably the best option because it allows you the ability to change the day/time of need be. Kids 5 & under do not need a ticket and kids 6-16 are about $30.

When they originally started out they only had 35 total. I think the demand is high here. I'm not a huge fan of the surprise venue though. Could be anywhere and so many places could be really far.

@chasinghosts : So very true. Hoping for GRB! However, there have been a few pop-up events and the venues were located in the downtown area. In either case, the location should be made available by July. Event doesn't start until mid-August.
