Humble Mayor Merle Aaron has proclaimed December 18, 2020, as Yvonne Walker Day to honor the Humble ISD Special Education Curriculum and Instruction Coordinator on her retirement after 41 years in education.

Mrs. Walker joined Humble ISD in 1999 and is retiring December 18. Over her 21 years in Humble ISD, she has been a coordinator for almost every program within the special education department. Her career also included serving students in North Forest ISD and Houston ISD. She earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Alabama and her master’s degree at the University of Houston.

“Her career has been focused on ensuring equity and access to meaningful and life impactful learning opportunities for all students and development for all staff,” the resolution states. “Now, therefore, I, Merle Aaron, by the authority vested in me as Mayor of the City of Humble, Texas, do hereby proclaim the 18th day of December, 2020, as Yvonne Walker Day in the City of Humble, Texas, and join with family and friends wishing Yvonne the warmest of wishes as she embarks on the next chapter of her life and offer the thanks of a grateful community for a job well done.”

@AtascocitaDotCom : Sounds like she had a special calling. Congratulations to Mrs. Walker on her career and on her retirement. Hope she enjoys her retirement, but I know that she is going to be sorely missed.
