Humble ISD Adding E-Bike and E-Scooter Permit Requirement for Students

Humble ISD is introducing new safety requirements for students who ride and park e-bikes or e-scooters on district campuses during the 2026-2027 school year according to an email sent out to parents. Beginning September 8th, students will be required to display a permit sticker showing that both the student and a parent have completed the district's required safety training and acknowledged its riding guidelines.

Parents must first review the district's E-Bike/E-Scooter Safety Presentation and complete a Parent Signature Form. Students will then complete their own safety presentation and acknowledgement before receiving the permit sticker. The district says lawful Class 1 and Class 2 e-bikes and motor-assisted scooters may be used in accordance with Texas law. Class 3 e-bikes may only be used by students who are at least 15 years old.

Humble ISD is also reminding students to wear properly fitted helmets, follow traffic laws and operate e-bikes and e-scooters responsibly.

State should pass a license requirement. Require a safety class.
