Humble BBQ Cook-off

Well I'm exhausted and sick in bed today, but what a fun weekend and awesome experience. We have some really awesome community volunteers on ADC. I am proud and honored to have served alongside some really great folks. @clydepuckett was such a lifesaver and amazing on-the-spot problem solver. @smokeybear was the calm and collected person that could tell a joke in the face of stress and get everyone laughing. @fairlane67 kept us all well fed and hydrated - the man can COOK! @greg and @tuckersmom were willing to patiently hang around until the late hour of tear down to help get things done quickly. @catmae always had a sweet smile and a hug for a quick pick me up. And last but not least @astrokatz, our fearless leader, who brought it all together with new and innovative ideas that will help improve the event for years to come.

Aside from folks on here, the Humble ISD leaders and partners that produce this event and the Rodeo next week - wow, they are really great. I have been consistently impressed with the group and amazed at the passion and dedication all have for the great town of Humble, "silent H town". 😊

Some great Rodeo (calf ropin', mutton bustin', and bull riding etc) along with Randy Rogers Band and Cody Johnson next weekend . Hope to see everyone there, it's going to be a blast. The kids get a so much more up close and personal experience than the Houston Rodeo.

Thank you for letting ADC family know how awesome they are! It is refreshing to hear postive feedback from such an awesome group and how our neighbors make A-town such a great place to live and raise our family. Thank you to all who strive to make this possible!!

Thank you for the praise Humblegirl, but folks let it be known that other than Tuckersmom and I, all those other people she mentioned gave up their ENTIRE weekend. We were on Humblegirls crew, and she seemed to be there from open till closing everyday. May not sound like much, but her husband was there helping also, and they had to juggle their kids schedule along with theirs. Just sweet "salt of the earth people" very involved, and making a difference!

@brightlights TBH I completely missed the awards as they were at the same time as duties I had on the other side of the complex. There were 5 categories I believe - brisket, chicken, ribs, open, dessert. And then steak was Friday and the Kids Cook was pork chops.

....just coming out of long long nap and sore as can be. Great times with all of you guys this weekend!

Make no mistake, HG and Mr HG, Clyde, Smokey, Astrokatz...they are the ones who busted their butts for all of us cookers and the visitors...and they did. It was our pleasure to serve them and the others. It was nice to meet some of the ADC'ers that I hadnt met before.

We (White Water Cowboys) have been cooking there for the last 9 years...I think there was 30 or so teams then. This year was that, plus another 100.

BTW....WWC scored 7th place on Brisket. We are pretty proud of that considering the number of cookers and especially up against the big dogs out there.

tgcbca.org should post showings soon.
