Y'all think I'm being funny I'm not being funny. I'm broke like really I'mma. Tell y'all right now. I've got a bachelorette weekend this month just like I had a bridal shower last month. You better bet your *** the H-E-B cards are gonna help me. They're gonna help me with some gas and they're gonna help me with some groceries I'm so excited More importantly, I'm grateful Most importantly through it all, I'm gonna keep my faith because without it I am nothing
RajunCajun, CarolS and MrsT + 1 more reacted This is where I feel the wedding industry has gotten out of hand. Make no mistake, It is an industry. It seems like it gets more and more over the top. I remember when we were getting married a bachelors party consisted of the guys going out for a drink. The guys bought the groom's drink. That was it. No fancy bachelor's weekend trips to Vegas or Nashville or wherever. Heck, we live an hour from NOLA and didn't even do that No way would we have expected someone to pay for that. I was shocked when I found out that this is now a thing. Our wedding was pretty fancy but was still more budget than what people thought. My BIL video'd the wedding. My cousin had a band and donated his services. The other band members charged regular. Flowers were minimal. My MIL made the cake. I borrowed my dress. Food, alchol, and venue was a splurge. But still nothing compared to what I see now. I really wish it could be dialed back some, but I don't have any answers. I did give our kids a budget and told them if they went under they could keep the difference. If they went over they paid. One dd whinged that we weren't giving her enough. I informed her that I was giving her the equivalent of 6 months of my pay (gross)--six months of my LIFE-for her ONE day. I felt that was enough. She piped down after that, made it work, and got $1500 check from us for coming under budget. And the wedding was lovely. At any rate, good luck to you. I hope you can enjoy even with the financial strain.
