I have always gone back and forth from Tai Li to Gingers all these years...love them both.
Gingers is re-open with expansion and serve more people now...it was packed Friday night...little bit of wait but the food is still the same...very guu-uuud. I am not a sushi fan..(who ever heard of eating bait??)...but with gentle persistence of child no. 2 I have tried a Shaggy Dog with promises that nothing raw is in there...and to my surprise I liked it...I was" pinky sweared" that no fish eggs were used in the making of this food.

I haven't been there in years...I felt like I was eating in broom closet.
May have to try them again. Don't even remember much about the food (I know I got sushi, though. I'm a sushi fiend!!). Congrats on trying something different! I still can't get my mom to try sushi. Even if it's cooked (I prefer the raw stuff), she doesn't believe it. lol

Ginger Cafe was my favorite sushi place around here... So far I've been a bit disappointed at the expansion, as the service has been a bit slow... but the quality of the food is the same and the reason I continue to go there. I hope they figure out what they need to do without having to change anything on the kitchen/sushi bar side of things. Preparing sushi is an art... it must be eaten properly to fully enjoy it...
I always like the volcano roll at Wazabi. But if given the choice, we always go with Ginger Cafe. I think it was Humble Girl that also goes - but you guys should try The Fish on West Gray. Lobster Roll (cooked), Spicy Mama (cooked) and peppercorn tuna (not). Hands down - blows away any sushi place I have ever been to. @MooMaw - I used to be like you. Wouldn't eat anything that wasn't cooked. One roll here, one piece of sashimi there - and now I will try anything as long as it's at a reputable place
Dang it! Now I have to eat chinese food tonight. Family wants Grand Garden and I just don't like it but in taking one for the team and trying yet another different dish in the hopes of finding something I like there.
A couple of weeks ago we tried Hunan Garden in Kingwood. To compare, I ordred the shredded pork in garlic sauce and hubby ordered Kung Pao Chicken. Their crab puffs are great but main dishes are too spicy. I couldn't finish my pork, ran out of rice, they gave me another order of rice for free to take away. I like spicy food but that was too much! It gets to a point where you can't taste the food, all you want is to eat rice and drink ice tea. I like Tai Li better!
