This happened to me today. A little over 20 minutes. In many years of working in skyscrapers, this had never happened to me before!

Many years ago I got stuck in one while pregnant in the old Great Southwest Life Building on Texas Ave. for about 2 hours. They got it moving again but it didn't stop all the way down level with the floor, so we had to be helped off by laying down and rolling off the opening down to the waiting arms of a couple of maintenance guys. I was mortified when they weren't sure if my belly would clear the opening!

After that I decided it was the stairs for me. However, since I worked on the 16th floor - that plan fell apart pretty quickly.

Since then - never had another incident. I still get a little nervous though if the doors don't open right away or the ride is super slow.

We got stuck last summer at the hotel in Hawaii. About 11 people for almost 2 hours. That was a bad experience! Two of the people were about to faint at the end.

I have never been stuck in an elevator, oh my goodness I hope I never do. Worked in a building that had crappy elevators years ago. My Boss got stuck for a couple of hours one weekend, several other people had been stuck for short periods. I never used the elevators luckily I worked on the 5th floor stairs were no problem.

Keys between floor and door - that had to be a problem no way I would ever try to pick them up, I have a fear of the doors.

Oh dear Lord HG! I would of first been hysterical and then fainted! LOL! I am terrified of heights and do not like elevators at all. But since I'm on the 20th floor I have no choice. Honestly, did you panic? My heart is beating faster just thinking about i!

@Bearfin:

No I was annoyed because it was a rare day when I was actually a little early. My boss says I come up with creative excuses...but these things actually do happen to me!!!!

I hated talking to the person on the emergency phone, they couldn't hear and I had to keep repeating myself and shouting.

On a ship. Rhapsody of the Seas during hurricane Ivan. Just before it started getting really bad. s
Seas were only about 15 ft. They eventually got to 40. The worst part was it was a glass elevator that you could actually see out to the ocean. It wasn't very long. Less than 10 min. But omg. Watching that horizon going up and gown and up and down. Lord.

Yes....Sheraton Hotel in Aruba. They got the doors open and we had to climb up onto the next floor.

Right now I am stuck and the Lansdowne Resort in DC. (At the bar).

@Fairlane67:

So instead of climbing, you're prolly gonna crawl outta this stuck problem.
