I was at HCA for a while (accident), when they moved a prisoner (stab wounds requiring surgery) into the room next to me in what sounded like a psychiatric break, with 4 armed officers guarding his room 24/7

I made them move me to a different floor.

Perhaps something more can be done about where injured/critically ill inmates get care other than traditional hospitals. It may sound harsh (I mean, you did make your own bed), but this isn't the first time (not by a long shot) one has escaped from the hospital...the truth is, this guy (you can look up his conviction record. Ick.) could have easily charged into a patient's room (all are unlocked) and hurt someone or started some hostage ****. If they have the wherewithal to manage escaping, their adrenaline is probably sky-high.

Idk what the answer is. People seemed to be so unh*nged lately.

I worked at Memorial Hermann for years. When inmates came in, they were always accompanied by an officer the whole visit.Someone messed up here.

@Daiquiri : Of course they're cuffed accompanied by officers. They also remain cuffed to chairs/surgery tables/hospital beds when transported from incarceration. Clearly, in some situations, that isn't enough.

Unless they transport them Hannibal Lecter style, someone will always escape. Hospitals don't have the extra security measures/staff in place to help prevent it. 🫤

People break out of jails too. Also there is a shortage of doctors where is the state suppose to get all that would be needed and who's going to pay for it ?

Once i went for blood work at Quest on McKay Dr in Humble and whilst in the waiting area a handcuffed prisoner was bought in...to say I felt uncomfortable is an understatement (as all the time the guard was booking him in) he was leering round the room checking out the kids and females...surely these offices have a private entrance and room that they can be taken directly to instead ....

@brightlights : The last time DH was in Kingwood ER, they had two inmates on beds, in the ER hallway. Right outside DH's ER room. Two officers were watching over them, but it still kind of freaked me out. They were pretty mellow guys, though.

@MrsHB : That is crazy!! 😭

I can 1-up you with a PCP-high loser coming into triage cuffed to the gurney, spitting blood at the staff trying to help him. He had active tuberculosis. They ended up throwing him out, armed officers walking 10 paces behind him in case he started up again.

I mean, WTF! 🤯
