ParksideRes : Might be, but if there is where we choose to enforce the law, I think we aren't looking at the bigger picture. I believe they have a catering license.

@mastiffrex : I would definitely make sure people you buy from have a food handlers license. You have to be able to know where you got it from in case something unhealthy happens for liability reasons.

Maxsmom : because it's so rare people actually buy this stuff. Plus people will blame ANY illness on fastfood very quickly. It's convenient.

@ParksideRes : Convenient and you can make a higher amount from a large company as most will settle out of court. People do this all the time.

cousindan : I have the opposite view!

@mastiffrex : My comment was if you are concerned about sanitary food prep and storage...... Louisiana home cooks are not where you want to be. Born and raised in Louisiana (south of I12) and have eaten many dishes with mystery meat and stiff that has been sitting out way passed what the USDA recommends. no problem. If the gumbo starts bubbling without the fire on,,,, don't eat it. Emoticon

@cousindan : I am from Louisiana too - my best friend's family owned Mam Papauls and I would eat at any of his or my relatives houses over the Cajun restaurants in the area. Guess we just have differing opinions born on the other side of the state near Lake Charles.

@mastiffrex : Oh absolutely! I don't think I said anything about food safety. That wasn't an issue for me. I said it looked good.

@bbk : cool fact. Every restaurant has an issue. It's how well it's mitigated and kept from consumable food.

@bbk : I'd rather not. I was at a McAllister's eating a really good sandwich a few years ago (in Baton Rouge). A blanking German roach comes scurrying over the table while we're eating!!!! I nearly puked. Never ate there again. Shockingly (sarcasm), they went out of business a few months later.

@babypineapple : I totally agree. We enjoy eating out from time to time -- mostly to socialize. But I KNOW my kitchen is clean so I'd really prefer, most of the time, to eat at home and save the money.

@mastiffrex : My dh was born and raised in New Orleans. I would eat in any of those NO kitchens. His mother was spotless everyone we knew was spotless. I've never heard of something so ridiculous
