Ceiling Fan Replacement Rant

So I decided to change out the ceiling fan in my Living Room....What a PAIN IN THE ***!....It's bad enough that I have to figure out how to hold several of the parts together near the ceiling while I also try to connect all the wiring!....Trust me, doing my TAXES "BY HAND" recently was much easier!....

every time i do it i swear someone flips the light switch on and i get zapped, i only do it when no one else is home now .. saves them from hearing profanity as well

Ceiling Fan Replacement Rant So I decided to change out the ceiling fan in my Living Room....What a PAIN IN THE ***!....It's bad enough that I have to figure out how to hold several of the parts together near the ceiling while I also try to connect all the wiring!....Trust me, doing my TAXES "BY HAND" recently was much easier!....And then I found potential "racism" in the wiring....Seems there were THREE "White" wires all tied together while the two black wires went on their own, one to the light kit, and the other to the fan!!... ---Rant Over--- I feel a little better now!

@EddyFree : you know, they make instructions for that.

There are extra wires for single or double switch operation.

@EddyFree : I just did all 5 in my house about 6 months ago. . . . . .
And all the light fixtures..........

@EddyFree : I understand that daunting task. When my husband and I have had to do this I find myself his helper and doing a lot of helping hold this or that up in place. I always say prayers for guidance, patience and safety. Then after it's all said and done a prayer of thanks that we got through it without a cuss fight. Ha Ha

@EddyFree : I'm about to have to do mine as well... I hit the switch to run it the opposite way when it was colder and once I switched it back, it's slowed down terribly... I've done enough of them to know the drill, this one does have a knob for the fan on the wall (off/low/med/hi) instead of a switch that I've never dealt with but hoping it won't be any different.

The one I had the most fun with was our last bedroom with high ceilings... trying to tippy toe that big bastard up there while on our squishy mattress was a chore...

Lol yea I'm not a fan (see what I did there) I did all my ceiling fans. Pain in the butt. To top it off I did two of them wrong because both switches control the fan and none control the light. Needless to say 2 yrs later and they are still that way cause I'm dreading redoing it all 🤣

we had to replace our bedroom ceiling fan , as it was over 25 years. the reason that we changed it was not because it was old it was because it fell on the bed . it was on my side and yes i was in bed reading a book. it fell at the foot of the bed i wasnt hurt just scared lol. so we bought another fan that claim to not collect dust . now 20 years later and that fan is still working. of course now with my luck it will either quit or fall on me again lol.

Well damn, wish I'd have known...Would've given you a dozen eggs to replace mine!....

The one I had the most fun with was our last bedroom with high ceilings... trying to tippy toe that big bastard up there while on our squishy mattress was a chore...

That was similar to my issue....I've replaced plenty of ceiling fans before so I'm no stranger to the process...But this one was the living room with high ceilings and as I said, the "canopy" was quite small for it being one of the larger fans....Had to muscle it up on the ladder and try to fit everything together....Then ended up having to cut the wires from the fan as they were 3x longer than they needed to be and absolutely no room in the "canopy" to hold excess wire(this thing's canopy is like the "speedo" of canopies!)....Just for reference(not a pic of the fan I hung, btw):
