According to reports from PCT 4, Investigators with Constable Mark Herman’s Criminal Investigations Division have conducted an investigation into a theft report stemming from an online Craigslist advertisement of a vehicle for sale.

The complainant came to an agreement with a male suspect to purchase the vehicle for cash and met with the male to exchange cash for the vehicle and title paperwork. The complainant learned that the vehicle was stolen and the paperwork was forged when he tried to register and insure the vehicle.

After a thorough investigation, Constable Investigators were able to identify the suspect as Joshua Gabriel Ortiz-Lopez (20, Houston).

"Joshua Gabriel Ortiz-Lopez is currently wanted on charges of Theft and Tampering with a Government Document. He received no bond out of the 263rd District Court. If you have information on Lopez’ whereabouts, you are urged to contact our dispatch or your local law enforcement.” -Constable Mark Herman

Sometimes I meet up with Craigslist people and pretend to be interested in the car they are selling but really I just want someone to talk to.

The best thing if buying from an individual is to meet them at the title change office and exchange monies there if you want to be totally sure.
