Atascocita trail system--

Phase two, still in a design phase, is a bike and hike trail system connecting our area to the new Atascocita Park. Precinct 2 will be working with TxDOT as well. Much needed!

@houtexas :

Not many places to ride safely around here. That would be good.

Will we residents be getting a sticker like Kingwood got? I ask since we're not allowed in their park, fair is fair.

@chasinghosts : The Atascocita park will be maintained by Harris County Precinct 2. Kingwood parks are maintained by their HOA fees, through KSA.

@chasinghosts : There were issues with this at East End Park. Your car was going to be towed if it didn't have the K sticker.. turns out KSA owns the park, but the parking lot is City of Houston so can't tow. Being that my career was in park management, I believe parks should be open to everyone. Yes I know there are private parks, but community parks should be open, and with that visitors should be non consumption, meaning respecting the facility.

I like that Pct. 2 will be working with TxDOT to build a pedestrian/ bicycle bridge over 1960 to connect trails. This is foreword thinking. Glad to see our community getting some outdoor amenities.

@Smokeybear : Yes, it's a good thing. I'm just really not that interested as we really don't got to parks that much, not worth our while. I just remember trying to go in and check out that park and being told I couldn't because I didn't have a sticker, even though I have 6 sets of family members living in Kingwood. So far I haven't seen a park here that would be that kind of a big deal. You should see the city parks in Chicago and Cincinnati, and they're all free, parking and everything.

Houston and Harris County has some great parks, and they are all free for everyone. Kingwood, well that's a different story. I hear you......

@Smokeybear : Just to show you the one that was 4 blocks above our old house. My husband grew up a 1/2 block before the entrance. It's gorgeous. www.aultparkac.org/
