Atascocita: Oaks Elementary Secures Perimeter After Distressed Individual Approaches PlaygroundOaks Elementary was placed under a Secure the Perimeter status Friday morning, August 21st after an individual who appeared to be in distress approached the outside of the school's playground area while first-grade students were at recess. According to Principal Kerri Smith, the individual remained on the opposite side of the fence and never entered the playground or campus. Students who were outside were escorted back into the building by teachers as a precaution.Campus administrators, Humble ISD Police and the Constable's Office responded to the scene. The individual was safely apprehended on upper Lake Dr. near West Lake Houston Parkway and taken from the area , and the Secure the Perimeter status was lifted at 10:48 AM.
