I have been through this journey. It is challenging. I can only recommend the steps I had to take which made sure Doctors write orders for a rehabilitation which may only be a short term solution. He must be able to do PT. Hubs went to Empass short term at one point. It's behind Northeast Hospital. I found it was good. It's hard to find an excellent place. Of course there are facilities such as Regents side of KW hospital which has a "short term" but the feel of it is a nursing home and hard to be in those places, but sometimes we have no choice. Hope this is what you are looking for. Maybe more suggestions will come. Also talk to the Social Services director for recommendations. Will be praying for you🫶🙏 Want to add a lot depends on insurance also.

Thank you! I guess they are all full because to get a private room was Pasadena. I will say he is a difficult guy to please on these trips. I try to hide if possible.

ladybeachbum: is needing PT? My leg amputation was done at HCA Kingwood. The Kingwood Rehabilitation Hospital is connected, but actually separate from the hospital. Kingwood Rehab Hospital was the best place ever! I will recommend them 100%. My situation was horrible, but that place helped me so much.

Glad you were able to get a private room, at least. It is possible for one patient to get too involved with roommate's care. Saw that from both patients sharing a room. They had good intentions but caring for the other took away from their relaxation/focus on their own needs.Find out shift change- ex2pm. Be there from 1-3, ap minimum so you get to meet as many of the workers as possible. I highly encourage random baked goods deliveries - especially for those doing "the dirty work." Their promptness on the buzzer means dignity or having to wait... get my drift?Don't hesitate to reach out to higher ups, if you think all needs are not being met. I arranged an appointment with physical therapy to teach me some skills and spoke to DON Director of Nursing when I didn't think appropriate communication was being done. I even had other employees backing me when having to deal with a chauvinist male. They said I said everything they wanted to say but feared for their needed working relationship. We were shorttimers and I only wanted the best for my family member.

Yes, it is a role change when you are in the position you are in, trying to make the best decisions you can. It was challenging because you don't want to make these decisions for your love ones. It's a new role that you have to play. Plus you are having to take care of yourself with your injury. Thank you, I will tell him. He now says he has to stay 3 more days there before moving him.

When my wife had rehab after hip surgery, we chose encompass rehab in the woodlands based on doctor recommendation . They gave me a bed in the same room , brought us both meals, and allowed me to watch rehab. Excellent personnel.We had traditional Medicare, not advantage plans.

My aunt did Encompass in Katy and raves about them. Did knee #2 based on when she knew she could return there.

Remember these things:Doctors are human. They do make mistakes.
Doctors have more than one patient, you, however, only have one loved one.
You must advocate for your loved one. No one else will do it for you.
There is usually a patient advocate at the hospitals if you are not getting the help you need. Reach out.
