Aldi's Milk. Noticed the milk had a rather funny taste this evening. Yep. It spoiled. Three days before the expiration date listed on the carton. Pretty sure that I didn't save money on this item since I had to throw about 1/3 of the gallon away. So annoying. Has anyone else had this happen?

I've never had spoiled milk from Aldi, but have from other stores in the summer months...along with produce that doesn't last as long. It's the heat.
no, we get that lactose free milk (from there)and it goes for a couple months out .. i didn't think i would like it , but the milk drinkers here get stomach issues from regular moo moo milk .. it tastes the same and its gone well before the expiration date. now kroger has the same stuff but DW wanted the extra calcium .. to me it tasted near expired even though it wouldnt be because of the extended shelf life . but i told her the extra calcium must come from the excess expired milk grinds they add back to it, not a fan ...

I've never had a problem with Aldi milk.....Of course I've never let it get close to expiration date either, usually drink it all in less than a week.....
@RajunCajun : wondered if it was just me. I`ve thrown away 3 gallons so far. We go through 3 gallons a week on slow weeks sometimes 4.
My husband worked in quality control at Safeway dairies. He has a four-year degree in v
Dairy science. He told me that you have to keep milk at 40 degrees or below to keep it from going bad. He said if you leave it out for 30 minutes you've lost one day off your expiration. I don't think the stores handle the milk properly because he said milk should last 10 days after the expiration date if handled properly. I like to shop for my milk at Krogers because they keep milk behind refrigerated doors.

I had one go bad the day before but that was awhile ago.
lactose free milk
Oh, another thing my ex-husband told me was that the reason they put the milk in the plastic cartons so that light doesn't hit the milk. Light causes the milk to change flavor. That's why your milk can taste funny if it's been out in the light too long. I have seen them put milk in yellow drugs but the customers wouldn't buy them so they stopped selling them like that.
@AMCLady : It does seem that Aldi doesn't handle their food correctly. I don't buy much produce there because it spoils so quickly and it's obvious that things like avocados and bananas were previously chilled which will prevent them from ripening correctly. I also stopped buying sugar there because it has so many clumps and must have been stored in a humid environment.
@Anurania : handling is very important. I noticed that HEB and Kroger's bananas are getting moldy. They are too ripe when they get to the store.
I had that problem with HEB milk years ago, no problem lately but I have not been to Aldi in a year?
i know for one thing Aldi's green onions have the longest shelf life ever, must have been from coming in a sealed bag, but if i get them from kroger or HEB , they are wilted in a day .. maybe they dont like the fridge .. it could def be me
