So sad and there needs to be a study to find out if their is a pattern and how to curb them.

Is this disproportional? If so, by how much? I assume the number of first responders in Houston is quite large. I don't know how to interpret the data - other than it really sucks when young people die. Prayers to their families

redneckroy : There's approximately 30,000 in the greater Houston area, which this article seems to be pulling from.

Mortality is about 1.5/1000 per year for cancer alone.

So about 45 per year in a 30,000 subset. But First responders tend to be younger and younger people have lower rates. So maybe 20 ish per year out of those 30,000 people.

gotcha - so a cluster like this would be out of the norm - but may average out over time.
