Not a lawyer, and was not in the courtroom, so do not know exactly what the jury heard or did not hear, but really, based on obviously biased news reports, thought they would find him guilty of manslaughter and not murder.

In Texas self-defense requires the force used to be proportional to the threat.

Thought manslaughter as well but they will appeal if possible based on jury configuration.
